In 2000, the Company approved its mission statement "To set standards of excellence in appraisal services" and its motto "Doing business responsibly".
The Company is guided by a two-strategy system of current improvements and future advantages.
The main idea of the current improvements strategy consists in receiving appraisal assignments owing to keeping the most objective parameters up to the level of the best Russian companies. This "semi-automatic" system of receiving appraisal assignments has been successful until recently.
Dmitry Kuvaldin has been trying to translate this aim into reality since 1999. He has taken a number of measures to make state authorities adopt a set of objective standards for choosing appraisal companies for a long-term job. The Company's future advantages strategy has a two-fold task: to move the Company to the level of international recognition, inter alia, by becoming a member of the auditing and consulting network of Grand Thornton International, on the one hand; and to do marketing and promote individuals, particularly, in scientific and social areas, on the other hand.
As to the fair play rules, this task turned out to be more complicated but still feasible in the conditions of economic recession. The Ethics Committee of the National Board of Appraisers with Dmitry Kuvaldin as its chairman drew up and adopted "Minimum standards for planning appraisal operations in the Russian Federation". And the New Code of Business Conduct, which is to become a Federal standard in accordance with the legislation, sets forth that failing to abide by minimum standards will be considered as a violation with all that it implies.
Dmitry Kuvaldin came forward with an initiative and implemented it participating in the work of the Appraisal Activities Committee of the Association of Russian Banks, which prepared recommendations for unbiased selection of appraisal companies.
